|Our brave Alaskan Sister - Warrior for all Women!!!
Are you on "Use or Lose" status with leave in the federal government? If so, this is for you! If you aren't and gave a surplus of leave, this is his you! Or if you don't have much leave, but have a giving spirit, this post is for you...
In the great 11th District, in the state of Alaska, one of our finest and most active Local Women Coordinators was just diagnosed with breast cancer. She needs our help.
Now before you just rush out there and start helping because I know you cannot wait to, know that she has improved he lives of thousands of Alaskan men and women, put on fundraisers to raise money and awareness of domestic violence, She orchestrated the collection of hundreds of bras for the Support our Sisters Domestic Violence Community Awareness Project... She is always giving and smiling and fierce and wonderful.
Now, you all know I fought this deadly disease in 2013/2014 with you by my side. Now we must stand by her side. We must dig deep and give. I will be calling each Local in District 11.
First thing we need: donated leave... She needs to know she will be getting paid and have continuity of services (health care, life insurance, union dues, etc...)
I need you all to dig deep. I was out for almost a year, and without AFGE, we would have lost our home (1600+) hours LWOP.
Cancer is the worst, be prepared for my call, or you can PM me for more details on how to help.
Cancer is a terrifying and lonely place, but a rising tide lifts all boats.
Love to my sister in Alaska,
Always in solidarity!
